Strancally Castle, West Waterford
Strancally Castle was built in the 1800’s on the banks of the Blackwater river and was renovated by the present owners in the mid-2000’s. We were tasked to reduce the running costs of the Castle and adopt new technologies to make this historic building more sustainable looking into the future. The solution was to replace the existing modular 700kW oil boiler and water heaters capacity and replace with the cleaner LPG while incorporating a CHP plant to produce some on site electricity.
The new system comprised of 3No. 90kWLPG boiler system and a 40kW Micro Combined Heat and Power unit. The CHP unit acts as the lead boiler and produces 40kW of heat and 20kW of electricity continually, reducing the power consumption from the electricity grid while the boiler system add s the additional heat required to maintain the comfortable temperature within the Castle.
This system has worked efficiently offering significant cost savings since the installation was completed.

Pig Farm, Co. Cork
This project included the installation of 14no 14kW Mitsubishi Heat Pumps to a large 600 sow operating pig farm in east Cork. The heatpumps provide heat for an existing farrowing house with over 400 heat pads. For this installation we used a split system and installed a plant room at both ends of the farrowing house to minimise the heat loss in the header pipe work. Each plant room with 7 heatpumps feeds through a main header and then to the individual farrowing house, where we keep between 34/39ºC on the heat pads for the pigs to lay on. A Mitsubishi Cascade Controller manages the cycling of the heatpumps to meet the desired flow temperature to the heat pads as efficiently as possible. This installation has seen an excess of 60% running cost saving over the conventional oil fired system.

Woodhouse Estate, Waterford
Woodhouse is a large Georgian country home on a 500 acre estate set in Stradbally County Waterford. We were the main mechanical contractor throughout the refurbishment of this beautiful estate. The estate comprised a number of buildings which included the main house, 5 lodges, walled garden and tennis pavilion, museum and courtyard apartments.
The ethos within the estate was to eliminate the use of fossil fuels and ensure each project comprised a eco-friendly system for providing heating and hot water.
We achieved this by the supply and installation of Air to Water Heatpumps and underfloor heating throughout the estate buildings.

Audi Waterford
Audi Waterford showroom is a large 1150m2 new and used car sales dealership in Waterford city. Here we supplied and installed the full underfloor heating pipework throughout the entire ground floor of the showroom and office area. A total of 6km of pipe work was installed to provide a comfortable ambient temperature throughout the building.
Underfloor heating was considered the natural choice for this new showroom, providing a significantly more cost effective solution than the more traditional heating systems.Underfloor heating is a particularly effective method of heating large floor areas like this with elevated ceiling heights, and as it is both invisible and quiet, and can suit buildings where aesthetics and noise are an issue. The underfloor pipe work provided this new state of the art showroom with a life-long, virtually maintenance-free solution to heating.
